Bisignani Leads Griffins to Sweep at Mercyhurst

Box Score Seton Hill concluded play against the PSAC Northwest Division with a pair of games in Erie.  The Griffins opened the trip with a matchup with Mercyhurst on Friday evening.  The Griffins rallied from a rough start to sweep the Lakers.  SHU is now 15-5 overall and 7-1 in PSAC play.
 
SHU got off to a slow start as they trailed 9-3 early in the match.  The early part of the match was filled with errors.  A kill and an ace from Leah Bisignani and three Hurst hitting errors forced a Laker timeout with the Griffins just trailing 9-8.  Two more Hurst errors gave SHU a 10-9 lead.  Mercyhurst was able to build its lead back to three at 16-13.  Back to back Laker kills gave them an 18-14 lead and forced a SHU timeout.  The Griffins responded with five straight points to force a Laker timeout.  Back to back blocks from Bisignani and Katie Wenson ended the 5-0 run.  Two more Laker errors extended the SHU lead to 21-18.  Bisignani followed with a kill and another Laker error pushed the lead to 23-18.  Bisignani and Wenson combined for a block to set up game point and a Laker error gave SHU a 25-19 first set win. 
 
A solo block from Cassie Hausfeld ended a long rally and cut the Laker lead to 4-3 early in the set.  Back to back kills from Jenna Sassack and Rachel Satira forced a Laker timeout with the Griffins leading 16-13.  Another Bisignani kill extended the SHU lead to 19-16.  Back to back kills from Bisignani gave SHU a 22-17 lead and Mercyhurst took their final timeout of the set.  An ace from Hannah Moeller gave SHU a set point at 24-17.  Bisignani ended the set with another kill for a 25-18 SHU win. 
 
Bisignani opened the third set with back to back kills, her 15th of the match to give SHU an early lead.  Jillian Livorse's ace forced an early Laker timeout with SHU leading 5-2.  Back to back Laker aces trimmed the SHU lead to 8-7.  Kills from Livorse and Sassack and a block from Sassack and Maggie Murray extended the SHU lead to 14-12.  Back to back aces from Murray pushed the SHU lead to 18-13.  Sassack and Hausfeld combined for a block and Sassack added a kill and SHU lead 20-13.  Kills from Jessica Hanson and Livorse set up game point and SHU took the match with a 25-17 win. 
 
Leah Bisignani led SHU with 16 kills.  Jenna Sassack, Cassie Hausfeld and Jillian Livorse each added 5 kills.  Maggie Murray finished with 33 assists.  Hannah Moeller lead with with 12 digs.  Hausfeld and Mary Baich each added 10 digs. 
 
 
Seton Hill will close out the road trip with a match at Gannon on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM.
