JOHNSTOWN, PA. -
Jenna Kaufman scored a season-high 20 points as the Seton Hill University women's basketball team defeated Pitt-Johnstown on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The win marks the first time since the 2012-13 season that Seton Hill has won inside the Sports Center at Pitt-Johnstown.
Seton Hill now sits at 12-10 overall on the season and evens their record to 8-8 in PSAC play. Pitt-Johnstown falls to 7-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
UPJ led by as many as seven, 56-49, in the opening moments of the fourth quarter. However, the Griffins would go on a 17-9 run over a span of 7:15 to take a 66-65 lead with 2:06 remaining in the contest that was culminated by a
Jharrin Gill free-throw that gave SHU their first lead since the second quarter. Kaufman followed up with a layup off of a Mountain Cat turnover and gave SHU the cushion that they needed to secure the win.
Seton Hill was led Kaufman's 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Jenna has scored in double-figures in seven straight games.
Lindsey Mifsud scored 15 points on 4-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from three-point land and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Jharrin scored in double figures for the second game in the row, finishing the contest with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and 3-of-3 from the line.
Seton Hill led the battle of turnovers with 12 compared to 15 UPJ turnovers. The Mountain Cats held a 40-39 edge in rebounding.
Seton Hill will have the week off before returning home to take on Slippery Rock University on Saturday, February 6th.
