Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Two Game Winning Streak Ends with Loss at West Chester

The Griffins made the trip across the state to West Chester looking to extend its two game winning streak with a PSAC Crossover matchup with the Golden Rams.  SHU got 21 points from both Trevor Blondin and Kameron Taylor but it was not enough as the Griffins fell by an 86-62 score.  SHU falls to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in PSAC action while the Rams improve to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in PSAC play.

SHU took their only lead of the game when Trevor Blondin hit the first shot of the game, a three pointer.  West Chester then rattled off 8 points to take an 8-3 lead, a lead they would not lose the rest of the game.  Blondin hit the next two baskets for the Griffins but SHU trailed 21-7 with just over eight minutes left in the first half.  After a Tyler Bowling jumper, the Rams ran off seven straight to increase their lead to 28-9.  WCU built their lead to as many as 22 points in the half and took a 44-24 advantage into the halftime break.  Blondin led the Griffins with 13 points in the half while Kameron Taylor added 7 points.

Taylor scored the first four points of the second half, two on free throws and one on a dunk that cut the WCU lead to 44-28 early in the half.  Back to back three pointers from Taylor and Trevor Lecuona trimmed the Rams lead to 59-46 with 9:21 left in the half.  Blondin followed with two free throws and SHU trailed by just 11, 59-48 with seven and a half minutes to play.  Over the next 2:25 the Rams outscored the Griffins 12-2 to push the lead to 71-50 with just over five minutes left in the half.

Both Trevor Blondin and Kameron Taylor each scored 21 points in the loss for the Griffins.  Tyler Bowling finished with 6 points and 12 rebounds.

SHU will return to action on Wednesday when they host Cheyney in a PSAC Crossover at 7:30 PM.
