Greensburg, P.A. - The Seton Hill University field hockey team suffered a 5-3 defeat to the hands of Bellarmine University (KY) in non-conference action Saturday morning at Dick's Sports Goods Field in Greensburg, P.A.

Seton Hill drops to 0-7 (0-1 PSAC) overall while Bellarmine improves to 4-2 (0-1 GLVC) for the 2015 campaign.

Bellarmine's Kathryn Schneidtmiller gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute off of a Alexis Van Wallaghen assist. SHU answered back in the 18th when Molly Childress (Red Lion, PA) scored off of a Penalty Stroke. Childress would come back just minutes later to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead off of an assist by Alesha Herman (Glen Rock, PA). The Knights went on to respond with goals by Alexis Van Wallaghen (23rd minute), Hannah Doll (29th minute), and Elle Lichte (31st minute) to gain a 4-2 advantage. Childress did her part again late in the first half, blasting one home from the top of the circle in the 33rd minute for her third goal on the day to keep SHU in striking range and go into the break down 4-3.

However, Bellarmine's Millie Resse scored in the 61st minute and the visitor's held on for the 5-3 win.

Bellarmine held a 23-13 advantage in Shots (14-8 on-goal) and a 16-12 edge in Penalty Corners. Jane Eberhardt (Greencastle, PA) spend the first half in goal for SHU, tallying two saves while conceeding the four first-half goals in the loss. Alexandra Piekarz (Wayne, NJ) played all 35:00 of the second half in the net and had seven saves while allowing one goal.

Seton Hill University returns to action on September 29th when they welcome Indiana University of Pennsylvania into town. That game is set for a 4:00 PM start.
