Griffins Drop OT Heartbreaker to IUP

The Griffin field hockey team was looking for their first victory of the season when they hosted Indiana (PA) on Tuesday afternoon.  Seton Hill scored first just ten minutes into the contest but IUP scored the final two goals including one in the first overtime period to defeat the Griffins by a 2-1 score.  SHU drops to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in PSAC play.

Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first just over ten minutes into the contest when they scored off a penalty corner.  Alisha Herman took the penalty corner and found Kayla Chapman whose shot found the back of the cage to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.  IUP answered just over 11 minutes later when they scored on a deflection in front of the cage to tie the score at one.  The game remained tied at one at the halftime break.  Seton Hill had a chance late in the second half but Ashley Curnow's deflection went just wide of the cage.  The Crimson Hawks controlled play in the extra period as they played with an extra player due to a yellow card to the Griffins.  IUP did not score with the extra player but scored 5:22 into the OT period when they bounced on a loose ball in front of the cage and put it into the back of the net for the game winner.

Jade Eberhardt recorded 3 saves in net in the loss.

SHU will travel to Millersville on Saturday afternoon.
