The Griffins hosted Clarion in PSAC play on Wednesday afternoon as they looked to end a two game losing skid. SHU scored twice in the first half in route to a 4-3 victory. SHU improves to 3-4 overall and 3-4 in PSAC play.
Megan Warman put the Griffins on the scoreboard just 1:50 into the half when she scored off a corner kick. The Griffins increased their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 28
th minute.
Breanna Novosel beat her defender down the right side and found
Melanie Renda in the box where she deposited the ball into the back of the net. Clarion cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal from 35 yards out in the 30
th minute. SHU held a lead in shots in the half at 14-2.
SHU jumped on the board quickly in the second half as well with a goal 1:26 into the half when
Emma Bearinger found a loose ball and put it in the back of the net. The Griffins added to their lead in the 50
th minute when
Hanna Marks found
Breanna Novosel open in the penalty area and Novosel beat the keeper with a shot into the top of the net. Clarion cut the lead back to 4-2 with a goal in the 56
th minute. The Eagles got a third goal on an own goal late in the game.
Carolin Edenhofner recorded 5 saves in net. SHU held a 30-11 advantage in shots.
SHU will travel to Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon.
