Box Score Seton Hill hosted its first ever ECAC Tournament on campus when Lindenwood visited for the semifinal of the tournament on Friday afternoon. The hosts could not ever get on track and dropped a 9-7 decision to be eliminated from the ECAC Tournament. SHU is now 9-5 on the season.
Lindenwood got on the board first with a goal at the 5:26 mark of the first quarter. The Lions added another goal 3 minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Lindenwood added another goal with 37 seconds left to take a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
Marc Piche opened the second quarter with a goal with 13:27 to play in the quarter and trim the Lions lead to 3-1. Lindenwood answered with a goal with 9:21 to play to build the lead back to three at 4-1. The Lions added another goal to push their lead to 5-1 with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Dylan Gelven ended the LU run with an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 5-2 with 4:08 left. Lindenwood carried the 5-2 lead into the half.
Piche scored his second of the game on the man up from
Hunter Hayes with 13:42 to play in the third quarter. Piche scored again from
Drew Bossert to cut the lead to 5-4 with 9:37 to play. Lindenwood answered with a goal to build their lead to 6-4 with 7:26 left in the third quarter. The Lions added another goal to build their lead to three at 7-4 with 6:22 to play in the quarter. Gelven picked up his second of the game to cut the lead to 7-5 off a feed from
Zack Rusch with 5:20 to play. Lindewood answered less than a minute later to build the lead back to 3 at 8-5.
Garret Howell scored with 6 seconds to play in the third quarter to trim the lead to 8-6 entering the fourth quarter.
Shane Pettke scores from
Brian Barnes and the lead is cut to one at 8-7 with 8:24 to play in the fourth. Lindenwood scored with 53 seconds left to extend the lead to 9-7 and forced a SHU turnover with 30 seconds to play to close out the game.
Marc Piche led the Griffins with 3 goals.
Dylan Gelven added two.
The Griffins must now await their fate with Sunday's selection show to see if they are NCAA Tournament bound.
