Box Score Seven players scored at least two goals as the #15 Griffins used a balance scoring attack for a 16-9 victory at Edinboro on Wednesday afternoon in a PSAC matchup. SHU improves to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in PSAC play. The Scots fall to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in the PSAC.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard just 24 seconds into the contest when
Emily Fagan got the opening draw control and then found
Emma Simmers for the opening goal of the contest.
Christine Palmeri increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal at the 27:38 mark. Just 29 seconds later Fagan pushed the Griffin lead to 3-0. The Griffins continued their dominance over the first part of the first half as they held an 8-0 advanatge in shots for the first 17 minutes of the half. Simmers scored her second goal of the contest to give SHU a 4-0 lead with 24:43 to play in the half. After a 13 minute scoring drought,
Tristen Hanke pushed the SHU lead to 5-0. The Scots responded, scoring three goals over a two minute stretch to cut the lead to 5-3 and force a Griffin timeout. Back to back goals from Fagan and
Renee Kania extended the SHU lead to 7-4 with 4:26 to play.
Keagan Pontious scored 24 seconds after Lock Haven trimmed the lead to 7-4 on a free position shot and the Griffins entered the halftime brea leading 8-4.
Free position shots from Hanke and Pontious increased the Griffins lead to 10-4 early in the second half.
Savannah Monroe and Kania pushed the lead to 12-4 with 20 minutes to play in the game. Palmeri scored off a pass from Simmers and SHU led 13-6 with 15:50 to play in the half. After Edinboro scored, Hanke finished off a free position shot and Monroe scored as SHU built the lead to 15-7. Edinboro scored with 7 minutes to play before Simmers scored her third of the contest to close out the scoring for the Griffins.

Tristen Hanke each scored three times to lead the SHU offense. Simmers added 2 assists while Hanke added 1.
