Box Score 2 The softball team closed out its regular season with a doubleheader at Gannon on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins earned a split in the doubleheader. Gannon walked off the Griffins in game one with a 4-3 win. SHU rebounded with a 5-3 win in game two. SHU finsihes the regular season with a 30-11-1 overall record and a 22-9-1 mark in PSAC West play.
Ashley Perillo homered to left center field in the top of the second inning to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead. The Knights tied the score at one in the third on a bases loaded wild pitch. Perillo hit her second homer of the game, this one to center field to give SHU the lead back at 2-1.
Carlee Wickstrom singled with one out in the fifth and scored when
Christine Henderson doubled. Gannon trimmed the lead to 3-2 with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth. The Knights then walked off the Griffins in the seventh. After a leadoff single, the Griffins threw the ball away on a bunt attempt. Another sac bunt put runners on second and third and the next hitter singled to plate the game tying and game winning runs.
Ashley Perillo was 3-4 with two homers.

Paige Hertzog each had 2 hits.
Gannon took an early 2-0 lead in game two of the doubleheader. SHU got one of those runs back in the second inning.
Ashley Perillo doubled and moved to third on a
Lauren Sauerwein sac bunt. Perillo scored when
Paige Hertzog singled. The Knights increased their lead to 3-1 with a solo homer in the fourth inning. SHU scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. After an out,
Carlee Wickstrom drew a walk. She scored when
Victoria Stock tripled.
Christine Henderson then singled and stole second. Perillo then singled to score Stock. Sauerwein then cleared the bases with a double to give SHU a 5-3 lead. The Griffins were able to hold that lead for the victory.
Hope Pehrson went 4 innings to earn the win.
Christine Henderson pitched the final three innings and gave up just one hit for the save.
Ashley Perillo and
Victoria Stock each had two hits.
The Griffins have clinched a playoff spot in the PSAC Tournament but will not know their seed or opponent until all of the league's games are played. The tournament will begin on Thursday in Quakertown, PA.
