Box Score Seton Hill closed out its regular season looking to complete a perfect run thru their ECAC schedule as they made the long trip to St Charles, MO to face Lindenwood. Lindenwood scored 13 seconds into overtime to end the Griffins perfect ECAC season with an 11-10 road loss. The Griffins already had clinched their first ECAC regular season title last week and will host this week's ECAC Championship. SHU falls to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in ECAC play.
Marc Piche opened the scoring just 1:18 into the contest on a feed from
Dylan Gelven. Lindenwood answered with a man up goal to tie the score before
Zach Hartmann scored from
Brian Barnes to give SHU a 2-1 lead with 5:26 to play in the first. Lindenwood tied the score at two before the end of the first quarter. Lindenwood outscored the Griffins 5-3 in the second quarter to take a 7-5 lead into the halftime break. Gelven and
Shane Pettke scored unassisted to give SHU the 4-2 lead three and a half minutes into the second. Lindenwood scored twice to tie the score at four before Gelven got his third of the half to give SHU a 5-4 advantage with 1:33 to play in the half. Lindenwood scored 6 seconds later to tie it and scored two more before the halftime break to take a 7-5 lead.
The Griffins scored the first four goals of the third quarter. Piche, Gelven, Barnes and
Zack Rusch scored unassisted goals to give SHU the 9-7 lead with 2:11 left in the third quarter. Lindenwood scored the final goal of the quarter and trailed 9-8 heading into the fourth. Lindenwood scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to take a 10-9 lead. SHU tied the score at 10 on a goal from Piche with 3:15 to go in regulation. Neither team scored in the final three minutes sending the game to a sudden death overtime. Lindenwood won the faceoff and took the ball and scored 13 seconds into overtime to take the 11-10 victory.
Dylan Gelven and
Marc Piche each scored three goals to lead the Griffin attack. Gelven also added an assist.
Brady Lawrence recorded 7 saves in net.
Seton Hill has earned the #1 seed and the right to host the ECAC Lacrosse Championships next weekend at Seton Hill. The Griffins will play #4 seed Lindenwood in the first semifinal at 11 AM on Friday. Lake Erie and Mercyhurst will battle in the second semifinal at 2 PM.
