Box Score 2 Seton Hill traveled to Edinboro, PA for a PSAC West doubleheader with the Fighting Scots on Friday afternoon. The Griffins ran their winning streak to eight games with a sweep of Edinboro. SHU took game one by a 13-3 score in five innings and completed the sweep with a 1-0 victory in game two. SHU is now 23-8-1 overall and 15-6-1 in PSAC West play.
SHU started off quickly in game one, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. After one out ,
Victoria Stock singled. She moved to third on a double from
Christine Henderson. Stock scored on a passed ball and
Lauren Sauerwein walked to put runners on first and third.
Kaitlyn Kutchman followed with a three run homer to give SHU the 4-0 early lead. Henderson drove in
Carlee Wickstrom who singled with a RBI groundout in the second inning. The Griffins increased their lead to 10-0 in the third inning.
Delaney Cortazzo, Wickstrom, Stock and Henderson all picked up RBI's in the inning. The Griffins added two more runs in the fourth.
Ashley Perillo singled to lead off the inning.
Paige Hertzog walked and
Jacqui Palmer loaded the bases with a single. Cortazzo then hit into a fielders choice to score Perillo. After two outs, Stock singled to score Palmer. Edinboro finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth with a two run homer. Sauerwein got one of those runs back with a solo shot to left field in the fifth. The Scots closed out the scoring with a solo homer to lead off the fifth.
Christine Henderson earned her ninth win of the season. She went the distance giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 9 and walking none.
Victoria Stock and
Ashley Perillo each had 3 hits.
Jacqui Palmer finished the game with 2 hits.
Game two was a pitchers dual between the Griffins
Hope Pehrson and the Fighting Scots Kalet Lenart for the first four innings. Neither team was able to get a base runner to third base in the first four innings.
Amanda Huff replaced Pehrson in the fourth inning for the Griffins. SHU scored the first and only run of the game in the fifth.
Jacqui Palmer reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on the play.
Delaney Cortazzo had a sacrifice bunt to move Palmer to third. After a popout,
Victoria Stock drove in the only run of the game with an infield single. Huff retired the Scots in order in the fifth and sixth inning. Edinboro got a double with two outs in the seventh but Huff got a strikeout to end the contest.
Hope Pehrson pitched three scoreless innings for the Griffins to open the contest.
Amanda Huff threw the final four innings to earn the win. She gave up 2 hits while striking out two.
Victoria Stock had two of the four Griffin hits in the contest.
Seton Hill will look to extend their winning streak to ten game on Saturday with a PSAC West doubleheader at Pitt Johnstown.
