MLax: Griffins Remain Undefeated with 13-12 Win

Greensburg, PA- The Seton Hill men's lacrosse team won 13-12 over Pfeiffer University to continue their unbeaten streak. The Griffins are now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the ECAC.

Pfeiffer found the net for the first goal of the game at 11:38 in the first quarter. Zach Hartmann tied the game at 1-1 with a man-up goal assisted by Marc Piche. The Griffins and Falcons each traded goals to make the score 2-2 with 7:47 left in the first.

Seton Hill found their first lead of the game after Zack Rusch scored on an unassisted play with 5:05 remaining in the quarter. Seton Hill would score again to increase the lead to two when Hartmann scored his second of the game on an assist by midfielder Shane Pettke. Pfeiffer closed the gap and added one of their own to make the score 4-3 SHU at the end of the first.

Pfeiffer and Seton Hill traded goals in the second quarter. With the play going back-and–forth, the game found itself tied 7-7 at halftime.

Both teams played close in the 3rd quarter. The teams traded goals and saw the game tied up 3 separate times, though Pfeiffer never saw the lead again for the rest of the Game. The Seton Hill offense responded every time the Falcons tied the game to keep them at bay.

At 9:23 in the fourth quarter, Zach Hartmann scored on an assist from Riley Martin to score the 13th Seton Hill goal and the eventual game winner. With the game scored 13-11 in favor of SHU, Pfeiffer closed their deficit to just one with a goal at 7:26 in the fourth quarter. The SHU defense shutout the Falcons for the rest of the game and concluded the scoring to win the game 13-12.

Brady Lawrence saved 12 shots on Saturday afternoon and added his 4th win of the season. Face off specialist Anthony Peluso won 17-of-25 face offs and added 7 ground balls.

The Griffins will be on the road for their next contest. They will travel to Gaffney, South Carolina to play #1 Limestone College on Saturday March 7 at 12:00 pm.
