Box Score 2 The Griffins and Indiana (PA) switched home sites on Tuesday afternoon, meaning the Griffins played host to a PSAC West doubleheader with the Crimson Hawks. The Griffins walked off with a 5-4 win in game one. The Griffins completed the sweep with a 9-0 walkoff win. SHU is now 15-5 overall and 7-3 in PSAC West play.
IUP took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first of game one on a three run homer with two outs. SHU got two runs back in the bottom of the inning.
Carlee Wickstrom reached with a leadoff double and
Victoria Stock reached when she beat out a bunt single. Both scored later in the inning on wild pitches. IUP added an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning. SHU cut the lead to 4-3 with a run in their half of the fifth.
Delaney Cortazzo led off with a single and moved around the bases and scored on a wild pitch. The Griffins won the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. After an out,
Ashley Perillo had a pinch hit single.
Erika Arriola pinch ran and scored when Wickstrom tripled. Wickstrom then scored the game winning run on a wild pitch.
Amanda Huff earned her fifth win of the season. She struck out 7.
Carlee Wickstrom led the offense with 2 hits.
Game two was a pitcher's dual between the Griffins
Christine Henderson and the Crimson Hawks Amanda Spindler. Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard in the first four innings. The Crimson Hawks had 2 hits while the Griffins had 4 thru 4 innings. The Griffins finally broke thru in the fifth. After one out,
Victoria Stock singled and moved to third on a double from Henderson.
Kaitlyn Kutchman then homered to center field to give the Griffins a 3-0 lead.
Lauren Sauerwein then doubled in
Paige Hertzog who singled.
Danelle Locke singled in Sauerwein and
Delaney Cortazzo followed with an RBI double to make it 6-0. Kutchman added another RBI in the sixth with a double.
Jacqui Palmer ended the contest with a walk off two run homer to center field to make it 9-0.
Christine Henderson earned the complete game, shutout win. She gave up 2 hits and struck out 7.
Kaitlyn Kutchman led the offense with 3 hits.
Victoria Stock and Henderson each had 2 hits.
SHU will host Edinboro on Thursday.
