Box Score Seton Hill hosted #2 Lock Haven in a PSAC matchup at Dick's Sporting Goods Field on Saturday afternoon. SHU jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead but went 30 minutes without scoring and fell to the Bald Eagles by a score of 11-7. SHU falls to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in PSAC action. Lock Haven improves to 5-0 and 3-0 in PSAC play.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the contest.
Emily Fagan forced a LHU turnover behind the LHU net and then found a wide open
Christine Palmeri who deposited the ball into the empty net for a 1-0 lead. Fagan then made it 2-0 when she scored from
Renee Kania just 1:20 into the contest.
Keagan Pontious increased the lead to 3-0 with a free position shot goal with 25:40 left in the half. Lock Haven answered with a goal just over a minute later to cut the lead to 3-1. The Bald Eagles scored two minutes later to trim the lead to 3-2. SHU responded with two goals to take a 5-2 lead with
Emma Simmers scoring both of the goals. Simmers scored her first off a pass from Pontious at the 18:53 mark of the half and scored her second from Kania with just under 15 minutes to play in the half. The tide of the game started to change as the game began to be officiated differently after the Griffins took the 5-2 lead. The Bald Eagles were granted seven free position opportunities over the last 15 minutes of the half to none for the Griffins. LHU scored on two of those free position shots to cut the lead to 5-4 at the half.
The Bald Eagles tied the score at five as they got another free position opportunity and scored at the 27:56 mark of the second half. Lock Haven took their first lead of the contest when they scored another goal off a free position opportunity at the 23:17 mark of the half. Lock Haven increased their lead to 7-5 with another free position goal at the 20 minute mark of the half. Palmeri cut the LHU lead to 7-6 with a goal from a pass from Kania with just under 16 minutes left in the half. LHU pushed the lead back to two goal before Fagan cut the lead to 8-7 with 12:08 to play. Lock Haven scored the final three goals of the contest for the 11-7 win.
