Box Score The Griffins headed south for spring break and opened their trip with a matchup with the University of Tampa on a beautiful Tuesday evening. SHU jumped out to a 9-0 lead and cruised to a 17-4 victory. SHU is now 3-0 on the season.
Seton Hill jumped all over the Spartans, scoring the first 8 goals of the contest.
Christine Palmeri opened the scoring with a goal from
Emma Simmers less than a minute into the contest. Less than a minute later
Renee Kania scored from Simmers. Simmers then scored from
Charlotte Cunningham to increase the lead to 3-0.
Tristen Hanke then found the back of the net for three straight goals to push the lead to 6-0 with 20 minutes to play in the first.
Emily Fagan scored her first goal of the contest on a free position shot and Kania scored from
Keagan Pontious with 13:10 left in the contest. Fagan found the net off a feed from Kania and SHU pushed its lead to 9-0 with just over two minutes left in the half. Tampa got a goal before Kania closed out the first half scoring.
Simmers opened the scoring in the second half with a feed from Fagan to put the 10 goal rule into effect. Hanke then netted her fourth of the game to push the lead to 12-1. Fagan then scored from Palmeri followed by two goals from Simmers and one from Pontious to make the score 16-1 with 11 minutes to play in the half. Tampa scored with 7 minutes to play in the half.
Tristen Hanke and
Emma Simmers led the Griffins with 4 goals each. Simmers added 3 assists.
Emily Fagan and
Renee Kania each finished with 3 goals. Kania added 4 assists.
Meghan Hollar earned the win in cage, giving up 1 goal with 2 saves in 40 minutes of action. Nellie Philips increased the lead to 17-2 with an unassisted goal.
Seton Hill will conclude their trip with a matchup with #8 Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon.
