The Griffin tennis team opened their spring schedule with their PSAC opener on Sunday evening at the Greensburg Raquet Club when they hosted Indiana. The #46 ranked Crimson Hawks defeated the Griffins by a 9-0 score. SHU falls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.
IUP swept the three doubles matches. The Griffins #1 doubles team of
Isidora Knezevic and Sarah Ruiz battled the number one team from IUP but fell by an 8-6 score. The Griffins other doubles teams of
Megan Hudak /
Paula Carvajalino and
Chelsea Pence /
Alisha Torretti each lost by an 8-2 score.
Carvajalino put up a fight in her singles match but fell in three sets. She dropped the first set 6-1 before responding with a 7-6 (7-5 in the tiebreaker) second set win. The third set tiebreaker was a battle with IUP coming out on top by a 13-11 score. Knezevic fell by a 7-5, 6-1 score at number one singles. Ruiz battled but dropped both of her sets by 6-4 scores. Hudak fell by a 6-1, 6-3 score and Pence and Torretti both fell in straight sets.
Seton Hill will be off until their spring break trip in Orlando, Florida that begins on March 9th.
