GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's basketball team dropped a 68-63 decision to Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening at the McKenna Center.
The Griffins are just 1-5 on the season, including 0-3 in the PSAC. Pitt-Johnstown, currently in second place in the PSAC West, are now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in PSAC play.
Tyler Bowling led the way for SHU with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds.
Kameron Taylor added 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting and was 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Taylor currently leads the PSAC in scoring average at 23.8 points per game. Pitt-Johnstown was led by A.J. Leahey's game-high 22 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Dale Clancy added 20 points and Nate Snodgrass had 14 points in the win.
For the game, Seton Hill shot 47.9% (23-48) from the floor. The team struggled to just 16.7% from three-point range, well below their season average coming into the contest (31.3%). The Mountain Cats were also below their season average from distance, shooting 30.4% (7-23). The two teams were dead even in fouls with 20 apiece. SHU was 15-for-24 (62.5%) from the charity stripe while UPJ was 13-for-20 (65.0%). Seton Hill held a 38-32 advantage on the board. Seton Hill committed 20 turnovers compared to just twelve for the Mountain Cats.
Seton Hill University will start a grueling four-game road trip starting at Millerville University on December 4th followed by trips to Shippensburg on December 5th, Clarion on December 16th, and Slippery Rock on December 19th. The Griffins will end the 2015 portion of the season when they step out of PSAC play one final time and welcome Carlow University (NAIA) to the McKenna Center on December 30th.
