Griffins Earn First Win of the Season

Seton Hill closed out play in the Tiffin Thanksgiving Tournament with a consolation game matchup with former WVIAC foe WV State on Saturday afternoon.  The Griffins shot over 58% from the floor in a 90-78 victory over the Yellow Jackets to earn their first victory of the season.  SHU is now 1-4 on the season.

The Griffin came out of the gates flying and took an early 12-3 lead on two three pointers from Noah Davis, two buckets from Kameron Taylor and a jumper from Tyler Bowling.  A layup from Spencer Casson gave the Griffins a lead of 12 points at 25-13 with 13:07 to play in the half.  Casson followed with a three point play to build the lead to 13 points at 28-15 with just over twelve minutes remaining in the half.  Over the next five minutes, the Yellow Jackets went on an 18-0 run to take a 33-28 lead with 7:28 to play.  WV State led 38-33 with 4:34 to play in the half but the Griffins closed the half on a 14-2 run to take a 47-40 lead into the halftime break.

Back to back jumpers from Davis and Tyler Bowling gave SHU a 56-44 lead with just over 16 minutes left in the half.  Trevor Lecuona's three pointer pushed the lead to 70-53 with 11:52 to play in the half.  A layup from Lecuona gave the Griffins their largest lead of the game at 76-57 with 8:37 to play in the game.  The Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 11 points twice in the half but could not get any closer as the Griffins earned their first victory of the season. 

Seton Hill shot 58% from the floor in the game.  The Griffins also won the battle of paint points 50-23. 

Two Griffins posted double doubles in the win.  Kameron Taylor posted his fourth double double of the season with 29 points and 11 rebounds.  Spencer Casson added 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Noah Davis finished with 19 points.  Tyler Bowling also hit double figures with 12 points.

SHU will open PSAC West play this Tuesday when they host Pitt Johnstown at 7:30 PM.
