Late Rally Falls Short For Men's Basketball

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's basketball team fell to East Stroudsburg, 82-71, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Sunday at the McKenna Center at Seton Hill University.

The loss drops Seton Hill to 0-3 on the young season and 0-2 in the PSAC. East Stroudsburg, favored to win the PSAC East, improves to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC.

For the game, Seton Hill University shot 29-for-57 (50.9%) from the floor and 3-of-12 (25%) from beyond the arc. The Griffins were a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. East Stroudsburg was 32-for-68 (47.1%) from the field and 10-for-25 (40%) from three point land. The Warriors were just 8-for-18 (44.4%) from the line. Defensively, ESU heckled the Griffin's the full length of the court, forcing 21 SHU turnovers while commiting just nine of their own.

Kameron Taylor had his first double-double of the season with team-high 28 points on 11-of-21 shooting and 13 rebounds. The senior guard from Landover, MD has led Seton Hill in all three games this season, averaging 25.3 points per game.  Taylor Bowling added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting to round out the SHU offensive effort. East Stroudsburg's Will Brown led all scorers with a game-high 37 points on 13-of-18 shooting, including an outstanding 8-for-11 performance from long-range. Najee Walls and Steve Harris chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Down by 20 (66-46) with 11:06 showing on the clock in the second period, the Griffin's slowly chipped away at the Warrior lead. Kameron Taylor's three followed by a Lamell Washington dunk off of a turnover breathed life back into the Griffins. A three pointer and a layup in the enusing possessions got the lead to 10 (66-56) with 8:54 remaining in the game. After ESU made one of two foul shots, Trevor Lecuona hit both of his foul shots followed by a Kameron Taylor layup got the deficit to single digits (67-58) with just under nine minutes remaining. Taylor then hit three jumpers in a row to pull SHU to within just three points (67-64) with 7:44 to go in the game. However, that would be as close as the Griffins would get as the Warriors went on a 15-7 run to close out the game.

Seton Hill University will have a few days off to celebrate Thanksgiving before traveling to Tiffin, Ohio to take part in the Tiffin Thanksgiving Tournament. The Griffins will take on the University of Indianapolis on Friday, November 27th.
