SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Seton Hill University field hockey team dropped a 2-1 double-overtime decision to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium at Slippery Rock University.
The Griffins (0-10, 0-4 PSAC) struck first when
Alesha Herman (Glen Rock, PA) tipped in a
Nicole DeLuca (Stroudsburg, PA) shot in the 34th minute. Megan McKay tied the game for Slippery Rock (5-7, 2-4 PSAC) when she spun around a Griffin defender and scored in the 48th minute. It would take almost 40 more minutes until Megan McKay scored the game winner off of a fast break to give the home team the win, 2-1.
For the game, Slippery Rock held the advantage in shots 16-7 (11-5 on-goal) and penalty corners 16-4.
Jane Eberhardt (Greencastle, PA) played at 86:45 in the net for SHU, finishing with eight saves. Carlee DuMars grabbed for saves for Slippery Rock.
The Griffins return to action this Saturday when they take on East Stroudsburg University at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. That game is set to start at 11:00 AM.
