Volleyball Falls in Four to Gannon

Seton Hill hosted Gannon on Saturday afternoon as they played their second PSAC West match in just over a 12 hour period.  SHU took the first set but Gannon responded by winning the next three sets for a 3-1 road victory.  SHU falls to 20-10 overall and 11-6 in PSAC play while Gannon improves to 19-7 overall and 12-5 in PSAC play.

Gannon started off the first set with a 5-2 lead.  Shelby Kyllo had a kill to start a 3-0 run and tie the set at 5.  The Knights answered with three straight points to take an 8-5 lead.  GU continued to hold the three point lead and led 19-16.  Back to back kills from Rachel Satira and Cassie Hausfeld gave SHU a 23-22 lead.  With the score tied at 24, Satira got a kill and Jenna Sassack and Satira teamed for a block to give SHU the first set 26-24. 

The start of the second set was tight until the Griffins went on a 4-0 run to take a 12-10 lead.  The Knights then went on a 6-2 run to retake a 16-14 lead.  After a SHU timeout, Sassack, Maggie Murray and Hausfeld got kills to give SHU an 18-16 lead.  A kill from Hausfeld and a block from Sassack and Satira gave SHU a 23-22 lead.  Satira gave SHU a set point with a kill.  GU answered with two points before Hausfeld fought off a set point with a kill.  The Knights then got back to back kills for the 27-25 win. 

Gannon held a 12-8 advantage in the third set.  A kill from Hausfeld and two blocks from Hausfeld and Katie Wenson trimmed the lead to 12-11.  A kill from Kyllo and an ace from Mary Baich cut the lead to 18-17.  GU then ran off three straight to take a 21-17 lead.  The Knights then won the set 25-18.  SHU took a quick 3-0 lead in the fourth set on a block from Kyllo and Satira and two Kyllo aces.  That would be about it for the Griffins in the fourth set as Gannon went on a 10-1 run and cruised to a 25-16 fourth set win.

Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with 17 kills.  Rachel Satira added 10 and Shelby Kyllo had 8.  Satira led with 4 blocks while Jenna Sassack added 3 and Hausfeld 2.  Maggie Murray led the offense with 38 assists.  Lauren Teed had a match high 24 digs.

SHU will travel to California (PA) on Tuesday night for another PSAC West battle.
