The Griffins continued their weekend in Erie with a matchup with Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. The weekend was not a good one for the Griffins as they dropped their second straight contest following a three set loss to the Lakers. SHU drops to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in PSAC action.
Seton Hill took an early 12-6 lead after a 4-0 run on kills from
Maggie Murray,
Cassie Hausfeld and
Shelby Kyllo. Mercyhurst then went on a 10-1 run to take a 16-13 lead. SHU tied the set at 18 before the Lakers took the first set 25-22. Mercyhurst took an 11-4 advantage in the second set. The Lakers continued to build their lead and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-12 victory in the second set. The third set was tight with neither team holding more than a one point lead until the Lakers took an 11-8 lead. After a block by Hausfeld and
Jenna Sassack SHU trailed by just a 17-16 score. The Lakers were able to pull away and take a 25-22 third set win and take the match by a 3-0 score.
Shelby Kyllo led the Griffins with 8 kills.
Cassie Hausfeld and
Emily Gilles each had 4 kills. Hausfeld had 4 blocks and
Jenna Sassack and Gilles each had 3.
Lauren Teed led SHU with 17 digs.
Seton Hill will continue PSAC West play on Tuesday when they host California (PA) at 7 PM.
