Seton Hill took a break from PSAC action on Tuesday evening as they hosted former WVIAC foe Fairmont State in a non conference battle in the McKenna Center. The Griffins, who were missing three of their opening day starters, battled the Falcons but came up short in the match as they were swept by a 3-0 score. SHU falls to 19-9 overall after the match.
Seton Hill came out of the gates flying in the first set, jumping out to an early 10-4 lead, forcing a Fairmont State timeout. SHU increased their lead to 17-10 on a
Hannah Moeller ace and the Falcons took their second timeout of the set. Fairmont battled back and cut the Griffins lead to 18-17, forcing SHU to take a timeout. FSU took their first lead of the set at 21-20. Back to back kills from

Maggie Murray gave SHU a 23-21 lead. A Fairmont State ace tied the score at 23. Another kill from Wenson gave SHU set point at 24-23. The Falcons then scored the next three points of the set to take set number one by a 26-24 score.
The second set belonged to FSU as the Griffins did not hold a lead in the set. FSU jumped out to a 10-6 lead. SHU battled back to cut the lead to 13-12 and trailed 19-17 late in the set. FSU built their lead back to 22-18 and took the second set by a 25-20 score. SHU took an early 6-3 lead in the third set. FSU ran off four straight points to take a 7-6 lead. SHU retook the lead 9-8 on a
Jessica Beal kill. FSU answered right back and took leads of 16-14 and 20-17. SHU trimmed the lead to 20-19 on a
Jenna Sassack kill but could get no closer as the Falcons closed out the match with a 25-21 win.
Rachel Satira led the Griffins with 16 kills and a .531 hitting percentage.
Katie Wenson finished with 11 kills and hit .550 in the match.
Jenna Sassack added 9 kills and hit .571.
Maggie Murray finished with 41 assists. Satira also added 2 blocks.
Lauren Teed finished with a match high 20 digs.
Seton Hill returns to PSAC West action this weekend when they host Mercyhurst and Gannon in key divisional contests. SHU hosts Mercyhurst at 7 PM on Friday and Gannon at 1 PM on Saturday. Gannon is tied for second place with Clarion with 11-4 records in PSAC play. SHU is one game behind at 10-5. Mercyhurst is in fifth place with a 9-6 record. The top four teams in the West make the PSAC tournament.
