Seton Hill battled Slippery Rock on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. SHU scored twice in 1:01 in the second half for a 2-0 win. SHU improves to 5-9-1 overall and 3-5 in PSAC play.
The Griffins nearly got on the scoreboard in the 17
th minute.
Colin Watson hit a free kick from just outside of the box that was stopped by the Rock keeper but the rebound bounced right to
Tom Urquhart whose shot from tight was blocked to keep the game scoreless. SHU had another chance in the 32
nd minute when
Seon Ripley's shot was cleared off the line by a SRU defender and the rebound shot by
Joe Smith was wide. The game was 0-0 at the half with SHU holding a 7-2 advantage in shots and a 3-0 in shots on goal.
SHU broke through with two goals in just over a one minute stretch. The Griffins got on the scoreboard first when
Joe Smith found a breaking
Tom Urquhart who deposited it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead at the 51:50 mark of the half. Just 1:01 later,
Curtis Gallagher banged home a rebound off a
Seon Ripley shot to give the Griffins a 2-0 advantage.
Cameron Evans made 5 saves in net in the win. SHU outshot the Rock 16-10 and 7-5 in shots on goal.
SHU will travel to Millersville on Saturday for a 4:30 PM start.
