Griffins Split Final Pair of PSAC Crossovers

Seton Hlll closed out PSAC crossover action for the year on Saturday at Pitt Johnstown.  The Griffins took on UPJ in the first match of the day and closed out the day with a matchup with Millersville.  The Griffins dropped the first match of the day by the score of 3-0 to the Mountain Cats.  SHU rebounded with a 3-1 win over Millersville.  SHU is now 18-7 on the season and 9-4 in PSAC play.
 
Pitt Johnstown jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set of the match.  SHU was able to battle back to within one at 13-12 on a block from Maggie Murray and Jenna Sassack.  UPJ was able to build their lead to 20-13 and took the first set by a 25-19 score.  SHU jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead in the second set on two kills from Cassie Hausfeld and blocks from Murray/Sassack, Rachel Satira/Sassack and Hausfeld/Sassack.  An ace from Hannah Moeller increased the SHU lead to 11-7.  Back to back blocks from Murray and Sassack gave SHU a 16-13 lead forcing a UPJ timeout.  The set was tied at 21, 22 and 23 before UPJ score the final two points for a 25-23 win.  The Mountain Cats took an early 8-2 lead in the third set.  SHU battled back in the set and used a 5-1 run to cut the lead to 20-19.  UPJ then ran off three straight points to take control and win the match with a 25-21 third set win.
 
Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with 12 kills.  Jenna Sassack added 7 blocks while Maggie Murray finished with 5.  Murray and Brynn Fleury each had 11 assists and Lauren Teed had a team high 24 digs.

The Griffins took an early 6-2 lead on three kills from Jessica Beal.  SHU used an 8-0 run including three aces from Lauren Teed to increase the lead to 17-6.  SHU controlled the rest of the match and took the first set by a 25-15 score.  Millersville took a quick 4-1 lead but the Griffins rebounded with 5 straight to take a 6-4 lead.  SHU built their lead to 24-18 on a kill from Rachel Satira but the Marauders scored the final 8 points of the set for a 26-24 win to even the match at one.  The third set was tight throughout.  SHU scored the final three points of the set for a 25-19 win and a 2-1 lead in the match.  The fourth set was all Griffins as they cruised to an easy 25-9 win.  SHU had runs of 6-0, 5-0 and 4-0 in the set.

Cassie Hausfeld again led the Griffins with 17 kills in the match.  Rachel Satira added 9 kills.  Lauren Teed and Mary Baich each had 3 aces.  Katie Wenson had a match high 5 blocks.  Maggie Murray finished with 30 assists and Teed had a match high 28 digs.

SHU will head to Edinboro and Slippery Rock next weekend for key PSAC West matchups.
