Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Griffins Score 2-0 Non Conference Win Over West Liberty

The Griffin women took a break from PSAC play on Wednesday as they took on Mountain East member West Liberty at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.  Seton Hill took control of the game in the first half, scoring twice in route to a 2-0 non conference victory.  SHU improves to 6-6-1 overall on the season.

Seton Hill got on the scoreboard quickly in the first half as they took advantage of their first corner of the game.  Emma Bearinger took the corner and sent a perfect ball into the box and Brooke Richtik scored off a header to give the Griffins the early 1-0 lead just 1:53 into the contest.  The Griffins continued to attack over the next 10 minutes with Emily LoPresti having three shots, two of them stopped by the Hilltopper keeper.  SHU then made it 2-0 at the 9:38 mark of the first half.  LoPresti send a nicely placed lob pass into the box that found the foot of Emma Porteous who one timed the pass over the head of the WLU keeper to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  SHU held a 13-1 advantage in shots in the first half with 7 of the shots being on net.

The second half shot total was alot closer with the Hilltoppers holding an 8-7 advantage but the Griffins were never really challenged as none of the shots were on net.  Griffin keepers Carolin Edenhofner and Jessica Neill combined for the clean sheet with each keeper playing a half.  Edenhofner recorded the one save in net for the Griffins.

SHU returns to PSAC play on Saturday as they open the home stretch of the schedule with a matchup with East Stroudsburg.  Kick is set for 3:30 PM.  It will be the Griffins Pink Day and their Senior Day as well.
