Seton Hill took a break from PSAC play on Tuesday as they made the long trip to Long Island to take on NYIT in a non conference matchup. The Griffins led 1-0 at the half but gave up three second half goals in a 3-1 road loss. SHU drops to 4-8-1 overall.
The Griffins came out of the gates firing, having three shots in the game's first twelve minutes. Shots from
Joe Smith and
Louis Mason were both stopped by the NYIT keeper. SHU finally found the back of the net in the 23rd minute of the contest.
Seon Ripley scored off a feed from
Joe Smith to give the Griffins the 1-0 advantage. NYIT held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots in the first half.
The second half was all NYIT as they scored all three goals of the half and outshot the Griffins by a 16-1 margin. NYIT tied the score at one with a goal in the 63rd minute of the game. The Bears took a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute on a goal off a header. NYIT closed out the scoring with a goal with just 23 seconds to play in the match.
Cameron Evans recorded 8 saves in net in the loss.
Seton Hill will host East Stroudsburg on Saturday as they return to PSAC play. Game time is 1 PM.
