Griffins Fall in ECAC Title Game

Seton Hill battled Lake Erie on Sunday afternoon with both schools looking for their first ever ECAC Division II Lacrosse Championship.  Lake Erie won their first ever ECAC Division II Lacrosse title with a 9-7 victory over the Griffins.  Seton Hill ends the season with a 10-6 record.  Dylan Gelven, Dylan Lefebvre, David Spadacene and Marc Piche were each named to the All Tournament Team.
 
Lake Erie opened the scoring just 22 seconds into the first quarter to take a quick 1-0 lead.  Erik Hultgren answered right back to tie the score just over a minute later on a feed from Marc Piche.  The Storm took a lead with a power play goal with 6:22 left in the first half.  The Griffins then scored the final two goals of the quarter.  Dylan Lefebvre tied the score at two from Piche and Dylan Gelven picked a top corner with 3:29 to play in the first, giving SHU a 3-2 lead.  Lake Erie tied the score at three with a goal with 9:34 to play in the half.  Piche then scored a power play goal from Lefebvre with 2:01 to play in the half.  Lake Erie answered with two goals in 11 seconds to take a 5-4 lead with just over a minute to play in the first half.  Gelven then went top corner again to tie the score at five with one second to play in the half. 
 
The Storm again struck early in the second half, this time 49 seconds in to take a 6-5 lead.  Matt Delmonico tied the score at 6 from Trevor Cyr with 9:31 left in the third quarter.  Lake Erie closed out the third quarter with two goals to take an 8-6 lead after three quarters.  Delmonico cut the lead to 8-7 with a goal with 11:57 to play in the fourth.  Lake Erie closed out the scoring with a goal with 4:27 to play in the fourth.  Seton Hill had three shots late in the fourth but two saves and one shot wide ended the Griffins hopes.
 
Dylan Gelven and Matt Delmonico each had two goals to lead the Griffins.  Marc Piche added a goal and two assists.  Brady Lawrence recorded 11 saves in the loss.
