Box Score 2 Seton Hill hosted Clarion in a PSAC West doubleheader on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. SHU scored three in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 win in game one. SHU completed the sweep with a 8-5 victory in game two. SHU improves to 16-8 overall and 6-6 in PSAC West play
The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. After an out,
Carlee Wickstrom singled and moved to third on an error. She then scored on a sacrifice fly from
Kaitlyn Kutchman. Clarion tied the score in the sixth thanks to two Griffin errors and a steal of home. The Griffins retook the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kutchman doubled to the left center gap to score
Lauren Sauerwein and Wickstrom.
Abbey Suhoski then doubled in Kutchman to increase the lead to 4-1.
Christine Henderson earned the win in game one, going the distance. She struck out five hitters.
Clarion jumped on starter
Hope Pehrson for two runs in the top of the first inning of game two. SHU answered right back in the bottom of the inning.
Christine Henderson doubled in
Dani Treaster and
Lauren Sauerwein.
Kaitlyn Kutchman then hit a sacrifice fly to give SHU a 3-2 lead.
Jacqui Palmer followed that up with a sacrifice fly of her own to increase the lead to 4-2. After two outs in the second, Sauerwein hit a solo homer to center. Clarion scored on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning. The Golden Eagles then tied the score at five with two runs in the top of the fourth. Henderson then singled in Treaster with a single in the bottom of the fourth. The Griffins scored a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth to increase the lead to 7-5.
Hope Pehrson earned the victory.
Amanda Huff earned her first save of the season.
Seton Hill will host California (PA) in a PSAC West Doubleheader on Friday.
