Box Score 2 Seton Hill's softball team made the trip to Erie for a PSAC West doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The trip was not a good one as the Griffins were swept in the doubleheader. SHU dropped the first game by a 7-4 margin and then were mercy ruled in game two by the score of 8-0. SHU falls to 16-10 overall and 6-8 in PSAC West play.
Gannon scored 6 runs off of Griffin starter
Christine Henderson in the bottom of the second inning. SHU got two of those runs back when
Carlee Wickstrom homered to centerfield in the top of the third inning. The Knights increased their lead to 7-2 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Dani Treaster doubled to lead off the fifth inning. She moved to third on a single from
Lauren Sauerwein.
Amanda Huff doubled in Treaster and Sauerwein scored on a RBI groundout from Wickstrom to cut the lead to 7-4. Henderson lasted just two innings in taking the loss. Treaster led the Griffin offense, going 3-4. Wickstrom added two hits.
Game two was all Gannon. They scored a single run in the bottom of the first. The Knights then added 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. They closed out the contest with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Amanda Huff suffered the loss in game two. Huff and
Abbey Suhoski had the two Griffin hits.
Seton Hill will host California (PA) on Sunday afternoon in a PSAC West doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 PM.
