Seton Hill Wins Battle of the Griffins

The Griffins made the trip across the state of Pennsylvania to take on Chestnut Hill in a battle of the Griffins.  The Seton Hill Griffins were able to come out on top by the score of 14-12.  Seton Hill improves to 3-0 on the season with the victory. 

Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Jimmy Cogley at the 11:49 mark of the first quarter.  Chestnut Hill scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead.  Matt Delmonico then tied the score at two.  Dylan Lefebvre closed out the scoring in the first quarter as the Griffins held a 3-2 lead after one quarter.  Lefebvre opened the second quarter with a goal to give SHU the 4-2 lead.  After Chestnut Hill made it 4-3, Cogley scored his second goal of the contest to give SHU the two goal lead back.  Chestnut Hill was able to tie the score at five heading into the halftime break. 

Chestnut Hill scored the first goal of the second half to take a 6-5 lead.  Dylan Gelven tied the score at six with an extra man goal.  Mark Piche scored from Delmonico then Delmonico scored from Gelven to give SHU an 8-6 lead with five minutes to play in the third.  Erik Hultgren ripped one from the outside to give SHU a 9-6 lead and Piche scored his second goal of the contest giving the Griffins a 10-6 lead after three quarters.  The Griffins scored four of the first six goals of the fourth quarter to build their lead to 14-8 but Chestnut Hill scored the final four goals to make the score closer.

Dylan Lefebvre led the Griffins with 4 goals.  Matt Delmonico and Marc Piche each scored 3 goals with Delmonico adding 2 assists and Piche one.  Dylan Gelven added 2 goals and 2 assists.  Brady Lawrence recorded 8 saves to earn the win.

The Griffins will travel to Mercyhurst next Saturday for a key ECAC contest.
