Griffins Pull Through 10-9 in a Nail Biter

Box Score Greensburg, PA- Erik Hultgren scores the game winning goal to give #7 Seton Hill Griffins (2-0) the win over visiting #6 New York Institute of Technology (1-2), Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.

The Division II game of the month certainly lived up to the hype. Neither team had more than a two-goal advantage. Both teams alternating scoring runs made for an exciting game.

With the Griffins down 9-8 with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter, Matt Delmonico scores the game-tying goal produced by a great dodge and feed by Jack Miller. 2:57 left in the game Brady Lawrence keeps the Griffins alive with a save on two quick shots by NYIT. After a NYIT timeout and quick turnover caused by a great individual defensive play by Dom Puglise, the Griffins successfully cleared the ball and killed time with a long possession. Erik Hutgren scored the game-winning, unassisted goal from a strong midfield dodge with 0:58 left in the game.

Anthony Peluso had a great day at the faceoff-x. Supported by dominant wing play from middies Corbin Takahara and Dylan Gelven, Anthony won 16-22 face-offs.

Seton Hill had great team defensive play down the stretch. After settling down at halftime, the defensive unit shut down the NYIT offense. They only allowed three goals in the second half, one of which in the fourth quarter scored by NYIT attackman Luke Miller (Miller had 3 goals and 3 assists for the day).  Brady Lawrence had 9 saves in goal and David Spadacene led the defense with 2 Groundballs and 2 Caused Turnovers.
