Softball Season Ends with Two Losses at AB

Seton Hill hit the road to Philippi, WV to battle the Battlers from Alderson Broaddus in a key WVIAC doubleheader with a playoff spot on the line.  Alderson Broaddus took the first game in 5 innings by the score of 18-5.   AB completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory.  The Griffins season ends at 13-21.  
 
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  Taylor Swatsworth led off with a single and after two outs stole second base.  She scored on a single by Brandi Piccolino.  AB answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first with a two run homer.  AB added 6 in the second and five in the third to take a 13-1 lead.  SHU responded with two in their half of the fourth.  Kaitlyn Kutchman and Lauren Sauerwein went back to back to open the inning to cut the lead to 13-3.  AB added  5 in the fourth to increase their lead to 18-4.  Piccolino homered in the fifth for the Griffins last run. 
 
Taylor Swatsworth led the Griffins with 3 hits. 
 
Seton Hill scored two runs in the top of the second inning of game two.  Lauren Sauerwein led of the inning with a homer.  Alex Alicea singled and moved to third when Hayley Morgan reached on an error.  The Griffins then executed a double steal for a 2-0 lead.  Taylor Swatsworth then homered to give the Griffins a 4-0 lead.  AB scored 3 runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-3.  AB tied the score in the fourth and added 4 more runs in the fifth. 
 
Taylor Swatsworth, Christine Henderson, Kaitlyn Kutchman and Lauren Sauerwein each had 2 hits.  Dani Treaster was the hard luck loser.  She went the distance, giving up just 4 earned runs.
