Griffins Split Doubleheader with Glenville State

The Griffins opened their home schedule with a WVIAC doubleheader against Glenville State.  Glenville took the first game of the doubleheader by a 3-2 score.  Seton Hill rallied for a 5-4 victory in game two. SHU improves to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in WVIAC play.      
 
Glenville State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a two out single.  The Pioneers added a run in top of the third, thanks to a Griffin error.  SHU got that run back when Alex Alicea reached on an error and eventually scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 2-1 in the third. 
 
The Griffins tied the score at two with a leadoff homer from Felicia Domasky in the fifth.  Glenville took a 3-2 lead with a leadoff homer in the top of the sixth.    
 
Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a leadoff bomb from Brandi Piccolino.  GSC tied the score at one with an unearned run in the top of the third.  SHU retook the lead in the bottom half of the third.  Hayley Morgan led off with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt by Taylor Swatsworth.  Morgan scored after Dani Treaster singled and the throw went into right field.   
 
GSC  scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.  After one out in the sixth, Beth Anne Swartzwelder hit a solo homer to cut the lead to 4-3. Christine Henderson then doubled and scored on a triple by Kaitlyn Kutchman.  Kutchman  scored to give the Griffins a 5-4 lead on a single from Felicia Domasky
 
The Griffins will travel to Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty on Saturday and Sunday.
