Box Score 2 Seton Hill was at home on Sunday afternoon where they hosted the Mountain Lions of Concord University in a double-header conference contest. In game one the Griffins managed to hold on to the lead as the Mountain Lions rallied in the seventh inning to earn the 10-8 victory. In game two Seton Hill came out on top once again defeating the Mountain Lions 7-3.
In the first inning the Mountain Lions scored one run off of one hit to take a 1-0 advantage. For the Griffins
Christine Henderson earned a single.
Brandi Piccolino then hit a double scoring Henderson and tying the game 1-1. Concord University earned nothing in the second. For Seton Hill
Felicia Domasky hit a single and stole second base on a wild pitch. Alex Alicea then hit a homerun giving the Griffins a 3-1 advantage. The Mountain Lions scored 2 runs off a single and a homerun hit by Alyssa Morris in the third to tie the game up 3-3. In the bottom of the third for the Griffins
Taylor Swatsworth hit a homerun off the first pitch to give Seton Hill the lead back 4-3. In the fourth the Mountain Lions came up empty handed. Domasky earned her second hit of the day drilling a single to right field. Domasky advanced to second on a stolen base.
Hayley Morgan hit a far double to centerfield sending Domasky home increasing the Seton Hill lead 5-3. In the fifth inning Concord managed to score 2 runs off of 3 hits to tie the game up once again 5-5. For the Griffins Swatsworth and Henderson stared things off earning singles and putting runners on second and first base.
Brandi Piccolino hit a single to third forcing the out at third and on a wild pitch to the first baseman advanced a runner to third and landed her on second base.
Kaitlyn Kutchman then hit a bomb over the fence of right field scoring three runs for the Griffins and taking an 8-5 lead. In the sixth inning the Mountain Lions did not string any hits together. For Seton Hill Swatsworth singled followed by a double by Henderson putting runners in scoring position. Piccolino then hit a long double scoring the two runners and landing her on second base increasing the Seton Hill advantage 10-5. In the top of the seventh for Concord they scored 3 runs off of 2 hits a homerun to close the gap on the Griffins 10-8 with 2 outs. However, the next batter for Concord grounded out leading to a 10-8 Griffin victory.
In game two there was no action for the Mountain Lions in the first inning while Seton Hill scored 1 run off of a homerun hit by
Christine Henderson taking a 1-0 lead. In the second inning Concord answered back with a homerun of their own hit by Stephanie Harper tying the game 1-1. The Griffins were unable to retaliate in the bottom of the second. The Mountain Lions scored another run in the third to take a 2-1 lead. For the Griffins in the third Alex Alicea hit a single and was sent home on a homerun by
Taylor Swatsworth snatching the lead back 3-2.
Christine Henderson was then hit by a pitch and sent to first base.
Brandi Piccolino stepped up an hit a long bomb over the left centerfield fence to increase the Griffins lead further 5-2.
Neither team managed to put any runs up in the fourth inning.
Dani Treaster singled to start things off for the Griffins in the fifth inning. Treaster then stole second and third base and Henderson was walked.
Brandi Piccolino hit a long ball into the outfield bringing in the two runners and extending the Seton Hill lead 7-2. Concord was able to put another tally up on the board in the sixth inning off of two hits making it a 7-3 game. In the sixth for Seton Hill they came up empty. Concord earned 3 quick outs in the top of the seventh clinching the 7-3 Seton Hill win.
With the wins Seton Hill's record improve to 11-13 overall and 10-6 in conference play. The Griffins will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to California University (PA) to match up against the Vulcans in a double-header. The first game is scheduled to start 7:00PM.
