Griffins Downed on the Road 81-59

On Thursday night the Griffins were on the road as they traveled to Shepherd University to take on the Rams in a WVIAC contest. The Griffins could not make up the first half deficit and suffered an 81-59 loss. 
 
Seton Hill did not start the game ready to play as they only managed to score 3 points in the first four minutes. The Griffins started to warm up and at the 12:14 mark only trailed the Rams by 1, 14-13.  Four minutes later the Rams managed to extend their lead over Seton Hill 27-19. The Griffins answered back and tied the game 31-31 with 3:45 remaining in the half. However, things took a turn for the worse as the Griffins were outscored 18-3 in the remaining minutes entering halftime trailing the Rams 49-34.
 
In the second half the Griffins went on a 6-0 run closing the gap on the Rams making it a 51-42 point game at the 17:28 mark. That was the closest Seton Hill would come the rest of the half. With 8:56 left the Rams had a commanding 68-49 lead. Shepherd continued to extend their advantage until the buzzer went off leading to an 81-59 defeat.
 
Katie Gattuso who recorded a double double scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds led the Griffins offense.  Paige Alviani added 13 points while Meghan Mastroianni and Tiara Stossel both pitched in 12 points.  With the loss Seton Hill stands at 10-6 overall and 7-3 in WVIAC conference play. The Griffins host Pitt Johnstown at home next on Saturday at 2:00.
