Griffins Drop Fourth Straight to Open Season

On Sunday afternoon the Griffins matched up against the Vulcans of California University (PA) at home in a non-conference contest. The Griffins were unable to close in on the Vulcans near the end of the game and suffered their fourth straight loss.
 
In the first half the Griffins got out a 6-0 lead with buckets from Katie Gattuso, Clare Berenato, and Meghan Mastroianni. The Vulcans caught up and tied the game 13-13 at the 7:09 mark. California gained momentum and hit a scoring steak putting 10 points up on the board unanswered by the Griffins making it a 23-13 contest with 2:44 remaining in the half. The Griffins could not trim away at the Vulcans lead and entered halftime-trailing 30-19.
 
During second half action the game went back and forth bucket for bucket. As the Griffins would close in on California the Vulcans continued to score. Halfway through the second half the scoreboard read 49-39 in favor of the Vulcans. Seton Hill could not get into a scoring stride and find a way to make up the first half scoring deficit. The Griffins suffered a 63-52 loss at the sound of the final buzzer.
 
Katie Gattuso who had 16 points led the Griffins offense. Mallory Sanner added 10 points and Paige Alviani chipped in 8 points. With the loss Seton Hill now stands at 0-4 overall. The Griffins will travel to Davis & Elkins for their next game on Thursday, November 29 at 5:30.
