Griffins Defeat UPG 3-1

Box Score The Griffins hosted the University of Pitt Greensburg on Friday night in a non-conference match. After a rocky second set the Griffins pulled it together and finished off the Bobcats 3-1.
 
In set one the Griffins started out with a bang going on an 8-0 run. Seton Hill continued to pound the Bobcats as they outscored them 12-3 making it a 20-8 set.  The Griffins scored the remaining points with ease closing out the set 25-9. In set two UPG jumped out to a 6-1 lead. UPG continued their domination and increased their lead 15-7. The Griffins made a run at the Bobcats with a Kelsey Profio ace and a Jenna Snyder kill to close the gap 22-20. However the Griffins did not have enough steam to finish UPG off and lost the set 25-22 and tying the match 1-1.
 
In set three the Griffins had a comfortable 9-4 start. The Bobcats could not make up the early deficit and suffered a 25-21 set defeat to the Griffins. With the set win the Griffins took a 2-1-match advantage. In set four again Seton Hill jumped out to a 6-1 lead. Once again the Bobcats could not close the gap on the Griffins suffering a 25-20 set loss and giving the Griffins the 3-1-match victory.
 
Chelsey Regovich led the Griffin offense with 12 kills, Corrine Gahagen added 10 kills, and Courtney Field earned 31 assists. On defense Lauren Teed recorded 14 digs, Shelby Kyllo had 9 blocks, and Larissa Santangelo added 7 blocks in the win. With the victory the Griffins record improves to 9-10 overall. Seton Hill hosts Ohio Valley University on next on Saturday October 13th, at 1:00PM.
