GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University football team has selected five captains for the upcoming 2016 season, head coach
Isaac Collins announced Monday, May 23rd. Serving as captains and the team's leaders on and off the field will be
Josh Falatovich (Greensburg, PA),
Tim Johnson (Vandergrift, PA),
Jarvis McClam (Laurel, MD),
Cameron Knapp (Lancaster, CA), and
Christian Strong (Brampton, Ontario).
Josh Falatovich, a redshirt senior defensive back, led the team in tackles in 2014 (83) and finished second on the team in total tackles in 2015 (85). He finished the 2014 season 19th in NCAA D2 in Forced Fumbles and 50th in Solo Tackles. In the 2015 campaign, Falatovich finished ranked in the top 100 in Total Tackles and Solo Tackles.
Tim Johnson, a senior linebacker, missed out of the 2015 season due to injury. In 2014 he appeared in 10 games, finished the season with 71 tackles (37 solo), added 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, blocked one kick and had one interception, had a season high 15 tackles vs Gannon (10/25), added 12 tackles vs Shippensburg (9/5) including 3 tackles for loss, and intercepted a pass vs Cheyney (11/15).
Jarvis McClam, a senior wide receiver, was garnered ECAC Division II Football All-Star honors and was named to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region IÂ team as a return specialist in 2015. McClam, who finished with 778 total return yards, returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown against IUP and returned a punt 36 yards for a touchdown against Lock Haven. He led the PSAC with a 28.2 yard average per kick return, and has three career returns for touchdown. McClam finished at the top of the PSAC in all purpose yards per game with 168.1.
Cameron Knapp, who tansfered from Antelope Valley College (
Lancaster, CA) for the 2015 season, will anchor the Griffin offensive line. SHU finished the season third in the PSAC in passing offense with 301.5 yards per game and 21 touchdowns, but ranked 11th in the league in rushing with just 117.6 yards per game on the ground and 14 touchdowns.
Christian Strong, a senior QB, returns to lead the SHU offensive attack. In 2015, Strong ranked 59th in NCAA D2 in passing yards (2274) and 77th in passing touchdowns (15). Strong's average of 284.3 yards per game ranked third in the PSAC. He also finished fourth in total yards per game in the conference with 285.6.
Seton Hill will open up the 2016 season at Bowie State on September 3rd at 1:00 PM.
