Coach Atkinson

Steve Atkinson

Steve Atkinson joins the Seton Hill staff as the linebackers coach and brings experience from the from FBS, FCS, DIII and High School levels.  He spent the past five seasons as the Director of Player Development at the University of Virginia.  Prior to Virginia, Steve spent two seasons as Director of Football Operations at the University of Richmond. 

At Virginia, Atkinson served as an administrative point of contact for players on all aspects of university life.  He also founded the "Hoos in the Ville" community service project for the football program.  The team reached the Chick Fil-A Bowl in 2011.  Atkinson directed all of the football operations for the 2008 FCS national championship team at the University of Richmond. 

Atkinson's coaching experience began in 1997 at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, VA where he was the defensive coordinator for four seasons.  The team won a WCAC (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference) Championship in 1999.  He moved to Osbourn High School for one season as secondary and running backs coach.  Steve then joined the coaching staff at George Mason University where he was the defensive and recruiting coordinator from 2003-2007.  Atkinson was the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Fitchburg State during the 2007 season.

Atkinson earned his Bachelors Degree from National-Louis University.  He earned his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Liberty University.

Coach Atkinson and his wife Pamela have three children, Katie (25), Zak (15) and Tori (10).
