Coach Whaley

Scot Whaley

Coach Whaley joins the football staff in his first season as an Assistant coach for Defensive Backs and Special Teams.    Coach Whaley brings a plethora of knowledge to the game acquired while coaching in the heart of Texas at Chisholm Trail High School in Fort Worth.  There he was able to coach defensive backs against Sean Robinson, now Quarterback for TCU, and lead the middle school and high school 7 on 7 programs.

Coach Whaley also coached with former NFL defensive backs including Larry Brown (Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XXX MVP), Ray Mickens (NY Jets) and Ray Crockett (Denver Broncos).  Coach Whaley was fortunate to coach in Cowboys Stadium against a talented team from Plano, Texas led by Head Coach Deon Sanders.  Coach Whaley’s team won that battle and ended the season with a trip to the State championship.

Coach Whaley spent several seasons using an affiliation with USA football to bring Heads Up tackling to football programs in the Dallas, San Antonio and Houston areas.   As a USA football coach for defensive backs in the Regional Development Camps, Coach Whaley is instrumental in helping select players nationwide to compete internationally against teams from Europe, Japan and China, Mexico and Canada for an international championship.  The USA football National team will be the team chosen to compete in the Los Angeles summer Olympics when football is declared an Olympic sport in 2028.   Coach Whaley is credited with making the game safer for young men and helping pave their way to the next level.

Coach Whaley spent several years playing and coaching semi-pro football.  Coach Whaley played full back and special teams for the Virginia Kings semi-pro team and played in the championship game in New Jersey.   Coach Whaley also coached the Garland Aztecs semi-pro team where he helped solidify play in the secondary.  Coach Whaley was also Head Coach for the Arlington Bulldogs semi-pro team in Arlington, Texas.

Coach Whaley is excited and honored to coach the young men at Seton Hill University and looks forward to making the Griffins great again.
