Ralph Clark joins the Seton Hill staff as the defensive coordinator and corner backs coach and brings experience from the from Division I-FCS, Division II and III levels. He has spent the last three seasons at PSAC East school Millersville, the last two as the defensive coordinator. Prior to Millersville, Clark spent a season at Virginia Union.
At Millersville, he turned a defense that was ranked last in the PSAC when he inherited it and improved them to the fifth best defense in the PSAC last season. The team had the second best pass defense in the league. He also coached two All PSAC East performers.
Prior to Millersville, Clark spent one season at Virginia Union as linebackers coach. Ralph has also been the defensive coordinator at St Francis and Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. At St Francis, his defensive unit ranked among the NEC leaders in red zone defense, and linebacker Scott Lewis became the school’s all-time leading tackler.Â
Clark served as linebackers coach, pro scout liaison, travel coordinator, compliance coordinator and academic counselor over two seasons at Northeastern University. From 2006-2008, Clark coordinated the Rose-Hulman Institute defense to a No. 2 ranking in run defense the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). Nine of his players were named all-conference, and Paul Spreen was named the league’s defensive player of the year. His team also finished second in rushing defense in 2006, holding opponents to just 91.3 rushing yards a game. Clark coached two honorable mention All-Americans (Adam Helmrich in 2006, Paul Spreen in 2007) while at Rose-Hulman, and coached 2008 CAA Conference leading tackler (156), All- England and All-Conference LB Phil Higgins at Northeastern.
Clarks’ collegiate coaching career began at Georgetown University as the secondary coach in 2004 and linebackers coach in 2005. Georgetown ranked No. 4 nationally in passing defense in 2004 and Mo Banks was All-Patriot League as a safety. Prior to joining the Georgetown staff, Clark coached at three high schools in the Virginia/District of Columbia area from 1998-2004.
Clark graduated from Robert Morris University with a Bachelors in Communication Management. He was a four-year letterman for the Colonials. He totaled 1,362 yards and 12 touchdowns as a running back.
