Maria Vallone joins the Griffin coaching staff this season after a very successful playing career at Bethany College. At Bethany, Vallone rewrote the softball record book. She was also a three-time first team All ECAC South Region selection, three-time first team All Central Region selection and a NFCA third team All-American in 2012.
Vallone left Bethany with her name throughout the Bethany record books. Her .425 career batting average is the best all-time in program history, as are her 222 career hits. Vallone also had 51 career doubles and drew 70 walks to rank first in both categories in Bison history and she owns the single-season records for hits with 65, set in 2011, and on-base percentage of .540, established in 2012.
Originally from Rochester, NY, Vallone also was a member of the Bethany tennis team where she played first singles and doubles. Marie also received the Susan Hanna Award, which is given to the top senior female athlete.
