Marcus Spencer begins his first season on the Seton Hill football staff in 2018. He will be the Defensive Secondary Coach as well as Pass Defense Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator.
Spencer brings professional and Division I playing experience to the staff. Marcus earned a full scholarship as a walk on at the University of Alabama where he was a four year letterwinner at defensive back. He was a Freshman All American and Walk-on All American during his first season with the Crimson Tide and then was named to the All SEC team and All SEC Academic Honor Roll as well.
After a quick stay with the Tennessee Titans, Spencer played three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL. He was a Special Teams Player of the Year finalist for the Tiger Cats in 2004. Marcus also played professionally in AFL2 with the Odessa Roughnecks and the Cincinnati Commandos.
Spencer began his coaching career with Sumter County High School where he was the defensive coordinator and DB coach. He spent two seasons at Bethel University before coaching two seasons at Da LaSalle HIgh School in the Chicago Catholic League. The past two seasons, Marcus was the defensive backs coach at Fenwick High School in the Chicago Catholic League. The team advanced to the state playoff semifinals.
He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Computer Software Programming.
