Coach Phipps

Drew Phipps

Drew Phipps, a 2020 Bucknell graduate and two-time NCAA qualifier, was added to the Seton Hill wrestling coaching staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2021.  He will begin his second second in 2022.

Phipps most recently served as a volunteer assistant coach at Bucknell University during the 2020-2021 season. During Phipps’ time, Bucknell earned two NCAA qualifiers and their first All-American in over 10 years.

A two-time team captain and three-time EIWA placewinner for the Bison, Phipps compiled a 99-46 career record. As a senior, he went a career-best 31-7, including a 15-3 mark in EIWA action. He finished as the EIWA runner-up at 197 pounds, knocking off the top and fourth seeds along the way.

Phipps earned the 19th seed at the 2020 NCAA Championships, which were not held due to the COVID-19 public health threat. At the 2019 NCAA Championships, he went 1-2 as the 28th seed, knocking off 12th-seeded Rocco Caywood (Army West Point) by a 7-0 decision.

Phipps also excelled in the classroom during his time at Bucknell, becoming only the second Bison to make three-straight NWCA All-Academic Teams. He also earned three EIWA Academic Achievement Awards. The Irwin, Pennsylvania native graduated with his bachelor of science degree in environmental geosciences.
