Coach Brisbane

Gene Brisbane

Coach Brisbane begins his eighth season as the men’s and women’s jumping events coach at Seton Hill.
 
Coach “Briz” received a B.S. degree in Education and a Masters of Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
 
He coached both boys and girls high school basketball for a total of 36 years. His last 20 seasons were as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Hempfield Area High School where his teams amassed 327 wins against 172 losses. They won 5 section championships, made 16 WPIAL Playoff appearances (2 final fours) and 4 PIAA Playoff experiences.  Also, during his 14 years as the jumping coach for the Hempfield Area High School Track and Field Team the boys won 3 section championships and one WPIAL Team Championship while the girls won 2 section championships and 4 total playoff appearances. He is also in his second season as Head Women's Basketball Coach at Westmoreland College.
 
In his previous five seasons at Seton Hill Coach Brisbane has coached:
  • Two All- Americans. One in the Men’s Long Jump (finished 6th in the nation) and one in the Women’s High Jump (finishing 4th in the nation)
  • Indoor National Qualifiers in Men’s Long Jump (2); Women’s Triple Jump (2); Men's Triple Jump (1)
  • Outdoor National Qualifiers in Women’s High Jump (2); Women’s Triple Jump (2)
  • Individual Conference Champions (WVIAC) in Men’s Long Jump (2); Men’s Triple Jump (3); Men’s High Jump (1); Women’s Triple Jump (4); Women’s High Jump (3)
  • Team Conference (WVIAC) Championships – 3 Women’s and 1 Men’s
  • Individual Conference Champions (PSAC): Indoor Men's Long Jump (1)
 
Coach Brisbane lives in Hempfield Township with his wife Carol. They have three children – Kelli, Mindy and Shawn and four grandchildren – Halle, Jace, Camden and Luke.
