Lexi Griggs is set to begin her first season on the Griffin coaching staff in the 2024-25 season.
With a strong connection to the PSAC, Griggs has a rich background as both a player and coach. She spent two and a half seasons at Indiana (PA) as a coach and administrator following her playing career for the Crimson Hawks from 2016 to 2020. During her time as a player, Griggs was a two-year starter, participating in 62 of her last 63 games. She recorded nearly 900 points and almost 450 rebounds over 120 games, boasting a career field goal percentage of 54.8, which ranks fourth in program history. In her senior year, she earned first-team All-PSAC West honors and was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year, helping her team secure the PSAC West title. As a junior, she played a key role in leading the Hawks to both the PSAC and Atlantic Region championships. Under Coach McConnell, Griggs contributed to a remarkable team record of 112-18 (.862), which included three PSAC West regular-season titles, two conference tournament titles, two Atlantic Region championships, and consecutive NCAA Division II semifinal appearances.
After serving as a volunteer coach in the 2020-21 season, Griggs was promoted to assistant coach for the 2021-22 season. She also held the position of Assistant Athletic Operations during the 2022-23 season at IUP. Most recently, she worked at Robert Morris University as the Compliance and Name, Image, and Likeness Coordinator in an athletic administrative role. In the 2023-24 season, she was the Director of Basketball Operations at North Carolina A&T.
Additionally, Griggs has experience coaching with Emersyn Fundamentals in Indiana (PA), serving as a fundamental coach at Jeremiah's Basketball Academy in Warrendale, and working as a camp counselor for her former AAU team, 4 Seasons Hoops Academy.
A graduate of Vincentian Academy (Class of 2016), Griggs earned her Bachelor of Science in Natural Science with a focus on Pre-Physical Therapy from IUP in 2020. She obtained her Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from St. Francis College in 2023 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Management/Sports Administration from IUP.
