Kristen Hawkins will begin her first season on the Griffin coaching staff during the 2025 season.
Hawkins spent the previous two years as the assistant softball coach at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi.
While at ICC, Hawkins helped the program reach a top 15 ranking in the 2023 season. Kristen coached six all conference players and helped 13 ICC student athletes continue their softball careers at four year institutions.
Prior to ICC, Hawkins spent one season as an assistant at Division I University of New Mexico. In her one season at UNM, she helped the team secure its best record in eight seasons. The team had two first team all conference selections.
Hawkins was also an assistant coach at Alderson Broaddus, Western Illinois and Midwestern State. At Midwestern State, the team advanced to the South Central Regional championship game and were 24th in the country during the 2014 season.
Hawkins played four seasons as the starting catcher at Division I the University of Virginia. She graduated from Virginia with a Bachelors of Arts and Science in Sociology and earned a Masters of Education in Sports Administration from Midwestern State University. While at UVA, Hawkins helped the Cavaliers to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and while earning the first NCAA Tournament win in program history.
Kristen was a 2009 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. As a star at Elizabeth Forward, she was named the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Player of the Year following her senior season. Hawkins earned the McKeesport Daily News Player of the Year award following her junior and senior season and helped the Warriors to four straight WPIAL section championships.
