Seton Hill University Athletics

Jamal Powell brings more professional football playing experience to the Seton Hill coaching staff.  Powell will be the Griffins run game coordinator and coach the offensive line.  Powell makes the move to Seton Hill from Southwest Baptist University where he was the run game coordinator along with coaching the offensive line and tight ends.  Jamal was also the strength and conditioning coach at SBU.  Before SBU, Powell was at Centre College where he was the run game coordinator and offensive line coach for four seasons. Prior to coaching at Centre College, Powell spent two years at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Powell also spent time playing for four different professional football organizations. Powell played two years in the NFL at center. He spent 2003 playing for the Tennessee Titans, and 2004 playing for the Houston Texans.  Jamal also played two seasons in the CFL for the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger Cats.  Powell played his college ball at Texas Christian University (TCU) where he was selected to the Conference USA First Team in 2002, and was named All-American in 2003 as well at Conference USA's Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year.  At TCU, Powell participated in five bowl games and was a candidate for the 2002 Rimington Trophy. 

Coach Powell has coached or participated in six bowl games during his career.  While at Texas A&M, coached three All Big 12 lineman, two which were drafted in the NFL Draft.  At Centre College, Powell coached 13 All SCAC offensive lineman, three of which earned All South Region honors, and one offensive lineman that was a two time All American.  He also coached one All MIAA lineman at SBU.

Powell graduated from TCU with a degree in Speech Communications and a minor in Business.  He received his Masters from Texas A&M in Education Administration.

Powell will be residing in the Greensburg area with his wife Rachel and children, Jaden age 5 and Ellison 3 months.
