Paul Matthews is entering his seventh season as member of Seton Hill University’s coaching staff. Matthews was named Morocco’s associate head coach in 2014-15 after serving as the Graduate Assistant and Assistant Coach. Matthews was raised in Greensburg attending Greensburg Salem High School and then graduated from Washington and Jefferson College. Matthews comes from a strong basketball family starting with Pennsylvania Hall of Fame inductee and long time St. Vincent College head coach Bernie Matthews.
Matthews’s responsibilities’ will include scouting, recruiting, supervising the weight program and monitoring academic progress. On the court, Matthews works primarily with planning practices and developing the Griffins post players. Matthews spent almost a month this past summer in China with the Shanghai Basketball Association conducting individual skills camps and coaching clinics in Shanghai, Ping Xiang and Nanchang. He has also been a counselor for the Hoop Group Elite Camps for 3 years.
Matthews was a 2nd Team All-PAC performer and team MVP for the President’s averaging 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Matthews earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Washington and Jefferson College in 2011. In 2013, Matthews earned his Master’s in Business Administration degree from Seton Hill University.
